Acid rain is precipitation that is harmful to the environment due to its toxicity levels. This rain can cause many damages to the environment, such as eroding trees, buildings, structures, etc. Acid rain is made by the oxides of nitrates from cars and oxides of sulphates from factories condensing with the water molecules in the air. It then precipitates down onto the earth, spreading its toxic rain across the environment. In hopes to prevent acid rain from continuing to occur, catalytic converters and “scrubbers” were invented. Catalytic converters are machines that are required on most vehicles to prevent nitrate oxides from getting into the air. “Scrubbers” are used to reduce the oxides of sulphates from industrial factories and power plants.
